Stereo Controllers and Headphones

If you and the other adults in the car like to talk during the trip, you could turn control of the stereo over to the kids. You can buy car accessories after-market kits that will allow the car stereo to be controlled from the backseat. The caveat with this controller is that you will probably want to make sure the kids have headphones so you don’t have to listen to their musical selections.

If you have more than one child in the backseat, one controller will likely become a thing to fight over. In this case you may want to make sure each child has their own musical device (mp3 player, iPod, etc) as well as their own headphones so you can drive along in peace.

DVD players

Kids love to watch a good movie, especially if their favorite star or cartoon character is in it. If your vehicle didn’t come with a built in DVD player between the front and back seats, there are a number of after-market DVD players that can be easily installed.

Unless you want to listen to the same cartoons, you may want to also make sure there are headphones to go with the DVD player so the kids can listen and you don't have to.
